i am woman | megan’s breast cancer survival story

In January of 2021, Megan found a lump in her breast. She brought her concerns to her doctor but, megan was told to carry on with life as normal. Seven months later, she felt another lump under the original one. This time, she was sure to advocate for herself and get answers. After a mammogram, an ultrasound, an MRI, and a total of 5 biopsies, the two lumps in her left breast and one tiny lump in her right breast came back positive with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

She began her journey and went through 8 rounds of Chemotherapy. When she was finished with her chemotherapy, she made the decision to have a bilateral mastectomy.

“I was just ready to get the cancer out of my breasts.”

Megan’s story is similar to that of one out of every eight women. Her vulnerability and power ARE absolutely amazing and I was honored to have been able to help her share her story and create images that make her feel like the powerful woman she is.

At first, it was really hard to look at myself. I felt like I wasn’t myself anymore, let alone a woman.

Honestly, there was one day where I just took my top off and was like it is what it is! I’m here, alive, and I saved my life. Embrace it!

Stay positive. You can absolutely have your days to cry, yell, and throw things if you need but come back and be positive and know you will get through it.

Honestly, I love everything about my body now. Knowing what my body was put through is so crazy. I am proud of myself for getting through it all and being able to share my story.
